THE CHALLENGE
The President and CEO of the P&C Banking division of a major Canadian financial institution was facing a fifth straight year of decline in investment product revenues and required support developing and implementing a new sales strategy to turn fortunes around. This would be a massive undertaking as the sales team had over 100 team members, spanned the entire country, and up until this project, had always managed the investment campaigns regionally. Getting all the investment team focused on achieving results and rowing in the same direction would require a whole new strategy and tactics.
THE SOLUTION
Collaborating with Trent, an Actinium Partners team member, an investment campaign and strategy was devised that would focus the sales force on exceptional customer conversations and increased client interactions. The campaign included a new sales and reporting solution to help target customers, a strong product offering, refocused sales assets, a nation-wide training program, and on-going implementation support.
THE STRATEGY
Collaborating with Trent, an Actinium Partners team member, an investment campaign and strategy was devised that would focus the sales force on exceptional customer conversations and increased client interactions. The campaign included a new sales and reporting solution to help target customers, a strong product offering, refocused sales assets, a nation-wide training program, and on-going implementation support.
THE IMPLEMENTATION
Two months leading into the investment season, the team executed a nation-wide training program that focused the sales assets on lining up and executing high-value customer conversations. Over 100 sales team members took part in the course titles “Customer Conversation Essentials.” In addition, all sales team members were brought up to speed on the new sales tools developed to monitor and report on progress for the campaign. For the 4 month fall investment season, the Actinium team managed the execution and tracking of the campaign revenues and supported any issue resolution.
THE OUTCOMES
The impact of the new strategy and investment campaign were a resounding success:

Increased revenue – $850M in new investment product revenues within 4 months. Achieving over 120% of the set sales goal. Reversing the previous 5-year trend.

Reusable, proven approach – A repeatable, effective sales strategy that was leveraged for all subsequent investment product sales campaigns. The client’s staff were all trained by Actinium to be able to complete all campaign activities on their own.

A new mindset – A new attitude of confidence was in place that a sales team that had struggled in the past could now outperform their competitors.
THE FUTURE
The partnership between Actinium Partners and the bank led to new benchmarks in investment sales within the P&C Banking team. A cultural shift was noticed by other divisions of their retail and private banking divisions and lead to the transfer of knowledge to other teams.
